How To: Use Color Therapy to Bring Positivity into Your Life (+ Free Printable Wall Art)

Do you wake up every morning feeling blessed by the life that you live or do you feel bogged down by it?  I recently bought a new coffee mug with this word, blessed displayed so largely across it.  Now, every morning seeing this word has me thinking, how do I really feel about my life?  What can I be doing differently that could help me to live every day feeling as if I am blessed?  These days I am all about working towards living my best life so I started to deep dive the Internet for ideas on how I could improve my daily positive vibes.

I asked myself these questions…

How could I do a better job at appreciating all the things that I have and the way that I live?  How can I avoid periods of sadness and the moments of weakness? Or really, is that even possible?  Is it possible to spend every day in a happiness bubble or is life more of a roller coaster when it comes to emotions we all seem to know pretty well?

Let’s explore these questions…

  • Is feeling blessed a mindset that is unique to the individual or is it a sensation that can be defined?
  • What are some things we can do every day that can help us to appreciate the things we have and the life that we live?
  • Is it possible to avoid periods of sadness and moments of weakness?  Can we at least curb these downtimes with a better outlook?
  • What is a happiness bubble and how can I get one?
  • Do we ever experience emotional periods in our life that are more like riding a steady train and less like riding a roller coaster?

I came across this quote, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right”  by, Henry Ford.

Wow, if that doesn’t just hit home.  Do I just constantly get in my own way of success?  I may be onto something here.  So then I started looking for fool proof simple ways that I could add positivity to my life in subtle ways as part of my “new” healthy lifestyle.

~all the good vibes, less of the bad~

Artwork can make us feel good and remind us that we are blessed every time we look at it.  This quote has all the positivity vibes and would look great in so many different places around the home.  Wake up to it every morning on your bedroom wall or hang it by the front door as a reminder to keep your day on track.

Although my mug itself is pretty basic, the message is not!  Blessed is a feeling that many of us probably don’t wake up every morning feeling.  But, why is that?  Is it more than just the basis of appreciation we feel for our lives or is it more complex than that?  Can we actually draw in our own happiness and push away the opposing sadness?  I have so many questions, and I know you do too!  Today we are going to keep our focus on one aspect of drawing in positive vibes that I found so simple, ANYONE can do it, and that is……..

Color!

Positive energy can be drawn in from our surroundings.  Color is one way of doing that!  Color therapy is a known way of expressing the feelings we are trying to express through art, our personal fashion and our home style choices.  There are many articles you can find online about the subject like this one  from  peacefulmind.com.  Choosing to dress ourselves and fill our homes with colors that emulate positive vibes will boost our positive thoughts throughout the day and give us an overall feeling of “good.”

So what are these colors and how can we incorporate them into our lives to start benefitting from these good vibes…

    • Yellow.  The color of sunshine has been known to boost our hormones and raise the level of happiness we feel inside our bodies.  This is a feel good color that looks great all over our homes from our bedrooms to our kitchen and also mixes nicely into personal fashion.  Yellow is a great color for a cute graphic tee or a softly colored baseball cap.  Warm canary yellow is gorgeous as a bedroom comforter which would definitely help with our goal of feeling all the blessed vibes when we wake up each morning.  And, of course, all the yellows are so cute on babies and kids.  Is there really anything cuter than a sweet baby face in a yellow bonnet?

    • Blue.  The color of confidence has been known to calm our bodies and minds.  This is a relaxing color that works so effortlessly in bathrooms and bedrooms.  It also wears perfectly as jeans, coats and blazers.  Navy blue is such a power color for a crisp suit that can be worn anywhere from the office to the runway.  Light and dark shades of blue work great as couches and accent chairs.  And, royal blue has been trending  in kitchens as center islands and in bathrooms turning vanities into gorgeous accent pieces.

    • Red.  The color of optimism has been known to give us a sense of warmth.  This color also symbolizes love, trust and vitality which is why we often receive red roses from our spouses.  Red is an amazing color for home decor and fashion when used sparingly for pops of color that draw your eye to something special.  Like, a rich red lipstick drawing your eyes to the perfect lip, or a great pair of red heels.  Deeper shades of red can also look great as an accent chair or throw pillows.  Even using a red pen can give us a little feeling of optimism when we are filling out our grocery list or writing out bills.

    • Green.  The color of concentration has been known to represent nature and positivity.  This is a refreshing color that works great to bring in the essence of the outdoors all over the home.  The easiest way to bring in green all over is by placing real and artificial plants anywhere you can find a little spot.  Succulents are low effort plants that work well for this, they look great on floating shelves or bathroom vanities.  Another way to mix green into your daily is through the artwork you put on your walls, curtains or throw rugs.  Hunter green is a great color for a cozy fall sweater or soft leather clutch.

    • Pink.  The color of sensuality has been known to induce optimism much like its sister color, red.  It has also been known to symbolize love as well as feminism.  Pink can be an amazing show stopping color for both men and woman in fashion.  Everything from a bright hot pink dress down to a soft baby pink collared dress shirt can be a strong statement piece. It can be beautifully used everywhere in home decor from furniture to accent pieces to artwork.  Pink can warm up a room or draw your eye towards a daily reminder of positivity.
